How to know if your AI feature is actually useful

A short, honest framework for deciding whether an AI feature earns its keep — or is quietly costing you trust.

Most AI features that launched in 2024 are already dead. They didn't die because the models got worse — they died because nobody used them.

There's a simple test. Turn it off for a week. If nobody complains, it wasn't useful.

The features that survive share three properties: they replace a step users already resent, they fail visibly (not silently), and they get faster the more you use them.
